FROG Open Weekend

The FROG Open Weekend will be held on the weekend of 21 and 22 March at the Rooikrantz Camping Area of the Groendal Wilderness Area, just outside Uitenhage.

Hike leaders from Voetsac, MCSA (East Cape) and NMMU Mountain Club will guide hikers on various trails in Groendal. These range from easy (5 to 6km) through to strenuous (8 to 12km). Meet at the Groendal offices by 8:15am. We will camp at the Rooikrantz camp for the night - braai facilities, flush loos and hot showers.

Usually two easy hikes are guided on Sunday.

All are welcome to join us for the day or camp over to Sunday.

Be sure to bring sturdy hiking boots for the hills and wet boots for the river crossings.

Groendal Wilderness
Untouched area of the Groot Winterhoek Range. Steep hills, narrow ravines, waterfalls and tree ferns. You might spot Bushbuck, Water and Rock Monitors, Leopards, Kingfishers, Fish Eagles on a lucky day.
