Default Wednesday Evening Sailing at ABYC

Join ABYC and sponsors for a Wednesday Evening Sail.

The format is as follows:

1. On certain Wednesday Evenings companies and individuals will sponsor an evening. This allows them to bring guests, clients and others. It also allows them to make use of the bar and restaurant as well as put up banners etc. for the day. The sponsors are also mentioned in the newsletter and on the web site. The sponsorship money pays for a light meal for all sailors and guests - normally a hamburger or boerewors roll and normally around R2 000.00.

Often we have more boats available than guests so open the sailing experience to members of the public as well.

2. The Wednesday Social Racing Sailing Instructions stipulate that each yacht taking part must take at least TWO guests onboard.

3. We leave moorings at around 5:30 p.m. and weather and course dependent sail in the bay and return around 7:00 p.m.

4. Great festivities and live music follow.

5. If you want to sail then contact ABYC or PM Alan.

6. If you want to sponsor a Wednesday Evening then contact ABYC or PM Alan.

7. You can also take a chance and just 'rock up' and ask any salty looking sea dog for the Sailing Commodore or one of the Wednesday Evening Sailing Committee members. Any one of these sailors will gladly assist you to get a berth on a boat.

8. You need to wear flat shoes that will not mark a deck - white soled tackies are probably the best bet, jeans and a t-shirt are safest and bring something warm.

See you on the WATER!
